SOVEREGIN FOOD PROGRAM

Ft. Belknap Food Program

Food Sovereignty as Security

Pillar 1: The Vision – Food Sovereignty as Security

For too long, the Aaniiih food system has been defined by third-party extraction and the legacy of off reservation environmental toxins. We are reclaiming our ancestral resources to transition from a model of dependency to one of local, healthy stewardship. By prioritizing “Clean Fuel”—nutrition free from industrial pollutants—we are not just feeding a community; we are securing its biological and sovereign future. Our strategic goal is the immediate provision of safe, regenerative, and traditional foods for our elders and youth.

Strategic Goal: To provide safe, healthy food for elders and youth.

The Aaniiih Cafe & Store

Pillar 2: Infrastructure – The Aaniiih Cafe & Store

The physical footprint of our restoration is a farm-to-table restaurant and trading store situated directly on the Ft. Belknap Indian Reservation. This infrastructure utilizes a vertical integration model: we raise our own cattle on ranch trust lands, process our own hay, and deliver the finished product directly to tribal members. This ensures that tribal resources stay within the community to build local economic resilience.

Status: “Development Phase – Phase 1 Construction Summer/Fall 2026.”

The O’Bryan Ranch Restoration

Pillar 3: Stewardship – The O’Bryan Ranch Restoration

  • This is the operational engine of the program. We are documenting the transition of a failing leasehold into a professional, family-run cattle and agricultural operation. As the 50% heir-at-law, I am asserting the stewardship rights recognized by the 1928 Congressional Act (H.R. 9994) to ensure these resources are managed with integrity.
  • Heir Stewardship: Congress established a law guaranteeing Gerald O’Bryan “NATIVE” decedents federal rights to this specific Ft. Belknap ranch. Non Indians have removed these resources up until now!

Sub-Focus: Immediate reclaiming of  hay operation and livestock management.

Native Health & Future

Pillar 4: Impact – Native Children’s Health & Future

The “Social Why” of this program is the protection and development of our children. By establishing a permanent “Safe Space” stewardship cabin on the ranch, we are creating a residency anchor where Native youth can learn traditional land management alongside modern business logistics. This environment is specifically designed to mitigate the developmental issues caused by isolation from heritage and to provide a sovereign foundation where our children can thrive, free from outside administrative interference.

Strategic Goal: Mitigate Tribal Health and Child developmental issues.

"The Sovereign Food Program operates in strict accordance with Private Law 99-94, ensuring that Aaniiih land remains under the stewardship of enrolled members who meet the federal requirements for trust land occupancy. Our mission is to restore the integrity of the land assignment system while providing for the community."
